This is to let you know that the class scheduled for this coming Saturday, Jan. 16 – Regal Splendor – has been postponed so that more people can take it. In its place we are offering a repeat of last Saturday’s popular class, Fabric Baskets and Bowls.

This class is taught by Deb Capron, and will run from 10am – 3pm. Take a break from your structured quilting projects to learn these simple techniques to wrap, coil and stitch unique baskets or bowls. You will leave the class with a basket that is complete or nearly complete and all the confidence to finish it. Class discussion will provide tips, finishing techniques and embellishments. Class fee: $35. The class supply list can be found at http://www.joyfulquilter.com/pdfs/fabricbowls.pdf
We still have 4 spaces left. If you’re interested in taking this class, please call the store at 399-0128.

Dear friends and fellow quilters,
For some time I have been trying to figure out how The Joyful Quilter could offer you even more quilting experiences; more classes, longer store hours, more clubs, BOMs and of course, more fun! I quickly realized that if all my plans were to come true, Linda, Debbie and I would need extra help. What I found was so much more!
Starting on January 11, The Joyful Quilter will merge with Woodstock Quilt Supply. Bob Silverman and Jim Helms, Woodstock’s current owners, will become partners in The Joyful Quilter. Jim and Bob bring an incredible amount of energy and talent to their new positions within the organization. They are best known for their quilt camps and classes, patterns and unique kits, as well as their beautiful booth when vending at quilt shows. All this will continue, as well as a new and exciting web store.
We are all excited about the possibilities that this merger will bring for us as individuals, for our business, and especially for our customers. Please stop by The Joyful Quilter soon, located on 19 Glenridge Road, Glenville, NY to welcome Bob and Jim and check out what’s new in the store. Linda, Debbie and I will be there too to answer questions you may have.
Come join the celebration! 2010 is going to be awesome!
Thank you,
Susan Pettengill

Those of you who like Dream Puff or Dream Wool batting from Quilters Dream will want to know that we are experiencing delays in getting those products. The factories that manufacture these 2 battings are having machinery problems, which are preventing production. We are regularly in touch with Quilters Dream, and will let you know as soon as we’re able to get Dream Puff and Dream Wool in stock. In the meantime, we still have Dream Poly (select and request), Dream Cotton (select and request), and Dream Blend. Talk to us about choosing the batting that will work best for your project.

Susan has been having a wonderful time exploring the log cabin block, and she’s looking forward to sharing her enthusiasm with you! On Saturday, January 30, 10 am – 3 pm, she’ll show you how to make a beautiful quilt with a center panel:
 Log Cabin
Learn how to make your blocks all the same so that they fit together beautifully, and enjoy the company of other quilters. There’s still space available!

 Empty bolts
Thanks to all of our wonderful customers, we at The Joyful Quilter had 180 fewer bolts of fabric to count during inventory! Susan, Linda, Debbie and Jay (who helped move fabric) all thank you for helping to reduce the total amount of weight that had to be moved by about 400 pounds. Plus, we had the thrill of coming this close to reaching 200 empty bolts! We look forward to reaching that goal at the end of 2010.
 100- (and 200-)Bolt Challenge
By Webmaster, on December 31st, 2009
Congratulations to Judie Butler, who won the 100-Bolt Challenge on Wednesday morning! Judie won a $10 gift certificate and 5 fat quarters of her choosing. Not only are we thrilled for Judie, but that’s less lifting for us during inventory! Yay!
But we’re not finished yet! It’s the Joyful Quilter’s Amazing 200-Bolt Challenge! As of noon on Thursday, we have emptied 123 bolts – as Susan likes to say, a lot of bolts have gotten their wings. Help us get to 200 empty bolts by 4:00 pm on Saturday, Jan. 2, and you can win, too! Even if you don’t get the 200-bolt prize, you do get an amazing bargain on fabric – 35% off on the whole length of fabric from any bolt you empty (applies to regular price and sale price fabric). We didn’t quite make it to 200 last year, but we’re optimistic this year. Come join in the Joyful Quilter fun!

We hope that you have had a wonderful holiday season!
This is just a reminder of our End-Of-The-Bolt Sale coming up next week. From December 28 through January 2, you’ll get 35% off any yardage that finishes off that bolt of fabric. Fat quarters will be $1.50, books and patterns will be 30% off, and kits will be 25% off the marked price.
To make this sale a little more interesting, we’re going to have our 100 Bolt Challenge again this year. If you are the lucky person to empty the 100th bolt, you’ll win a $10 gift certificate and a free fat quarter pack. We had lots of fun with this challenge last year – we’re sure you’ll enjoy it, too!
We’ll be open our regular hours (10 – 5) on New Year’s Eve, and will be closed New Year’s Day for inventory.
We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!
